The word “nuut” means “new” in Afrikaans, and that simple meaning sits at the heart of everything we do.

 

The story behind NUUT. began long before there was a brand, a website, or a collection of products. It began with one of our co-founders growing up on a farm in South Africa.

 

As a teenager, he spent weekends and school holidays working as a waiter on a local wine estate. The work was honest, the days were long, and every shift taught lessons in patience, perseverance, and the value of hard work.

 

Every Tuesday, after receiving his weekly pay, he would make a familiar stop at the local pharmacy. Not to buy luxury items or follow trends, but to search for something many people take for granted — skincare products that could help him feel more confident in his own skin.

 

Like many young people, he struggled with concerns such as uneven skin tone, dryness, irritation, and hyperpigmentation. Week after week, he searched for solutions, always asking the same question:

 

“What’s new?”

 

What new product could help?

What new ingredient was everyone talking about?

What new routine might finally make a difference?

 

Without realizing it, those weekly visits planted the seed for what would one day become NUUT.

 

Years later, that same curiosity, hope, and belief in new beginnings became the foundation of a skincare brand designed to help others feel confident, comfortable, and proud of the skin they are in.
